Ken Nickson, Jr.
As coordinator of diversity, equity and inclusion, Ken Nickson Jr. spearheads the district's efforts to make sure all of our staff and students feel safe, supported and welcomed. One of Nickson's current initiatives is Spirit Councils, groups of students at each of the high schools who use their voices to identify and solve issues and challenges in a systemic way.
Nickson's career began as an emotional support teacher in Pittsburgh's Public Schools. He joined Erie's Public Schools in 2002 and has held various roles, including assistant principal of Lincoln, Jefferson and Edison elementary schools and associate dean of Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy. He has served as coordinator of diversity, equity and inclusion since the 2017-2018 school year.
