    Global Green USA
     
    Collegiate Academy was awarded second place in the Global Green USA contest in 2013 out of more 450 schools across the United States.  They received $2500 in from Office Depot and the design expertise of the Captain Planet Foundation for their school garden.

    The DEP provided funding for the Erie design collaborative in the amount of $500.

    The DEP awarded the Erie City School District a $3745 grant to continue the E2 District Plan by providing funding to write the Phase III curriculum and train teachers on the implementation of it in the fall of 2012. The Phase III curriculum will consist of modules that will direct the students in the assessment of water usage, nutrition, transportation, solid waste, healthy indoor air quality, and building design.

    One of three national awards, the Erie School District has been given a $10,000 grant for the Energy Audit Curriculum and an upgrade to cafeteria lighting at Collegiate Academy.

    Citizen Power Educational Grant, October 2011
     
    The Erie City School District has been awarded $4644 to purchase wind turbine kits for the renewable energy section of the Energy Audit Curriculum. Elementary, middle and high school students have the opportunity to perform inquiry-based experiments by manipulating variables related to wind generation.

    The Erie City School District has been awarded a $29,800 grant for the district energy initiative to be rolled out in the fall of 2011. Funding will support teacher training, curriculum development, materials for an inter-district competition, and sub-metering of selected buildings. The funding will ensure the development, implementation, and sustainability of the project.

    The DEP awarded the Erie City School District a $7400 grant to establish an educational committee, write an energy audit curriculum, and train teachers as part of the E2 district plan. The educational committee will begin work in June 2011 with incorporation of the curriculum in the fall of 2011. The grant will also provide funding to purchase light and wattage meters for the students to collect data.

    A grant of $112,778 for the installation of a 10.4 Kilowatt solar array was awarded to the Erie City School District. The panels are installed on the roof of the Northwest PA Collegiate Academy along with a weather station A web-based data monitoring system will allow science, math, engineering, and economics classes to incorporate real-time and up-to-date information into their course work.

    $1,000 was donated and used to purchase LED lights for EXIT signs. Fifty desk lamps with CFL lightbulbs were donated to be used by teachers during planning periods when classroom lights could be turned off.

    $500 was donated and used to purchase LED lights for EXIT signs.

    State Farm, Grand Prize Video Contest, May 2008
     
    The $500 Grand Prize was awarded for the video "Environmental Tag" created by media arts/environmental science student Tiffany Frombach. The video shows high school students working on conservation projects and the positive effect these projects can have on the future of elementary students.

    $1,500 was donated and used to purchase motion detectors. Funds will be used to purchase materials for the green design dollhouse project.
