• The Collegiate Academy Model United Nations Club held its twelfth annual Model United Nations Middle School Conference (CAMUNC XII), on March 7–8, 2025, at Collegiate Academy. Over 78 student delegates from five local middle schools participated, including East Middle School, Erie Day School, Fairview Middle School, Rice Avenue Middle School, and Strong Vincent Middle School.

The conference was completely student-driven. Student executive board officers Markella Nacopoulos, Sebastian Liu, Thomas Mayo, and Eliana Lichtenger helped organize the conference. The opening ceremony on Friday, March 7, included a very special roll call of all participating countries and Star Wars Planet assignments.

This year’s CAMUNC XII committees included the following:

    • UNEP Committee 1: Plastic Pollution, chaired by Thomas Mayo
    • WHO Committee 2: Disparities In Global Healthcare, chaired by Eliana Lichtenger
    • INTERPOL Committee 3: Global Trafficking chaired by Sebastian Liu.
    • And finally the highly anticipated UN Security Council: STAR WARS: Defense Of Republic Neutral Systems chaired by Markella Nacopoulos. The CAMUNC XII conference and competition was very close, and all of the middle school delegations came prepared for the debates within their committees. The first place best overall school “David B. Lasher Award” went to Erie Day School. Fairview Middle School earned second place overall school honors. Rice Avenue Middle School (Girard School District) finished third place overall. Strong Vincent Middle School was a very close fourth place. Followed by East Middle School in 5th place. Many individual medals were handed out at the conference including best delegate, outstanding delegate, and excellent delegate awards.
