FREE Dual Enrollment Courses for GO College Students
GO College’s High School Dual Enrollment program provides an opportunity for participants in 11th and 12th grades to enroll in Gannon University courses while in high school at no cost to the student. The program gives students the chance to jump-start their pursuit of a college degree, enter the work force earlier than their peers, and more importantly, save as much as $33,000 in tuition and fees.
The college courses, whether taken for required or elective high school credit, are weighted at the AP level and will have a significant impact on the student’s GPA. A student may substitute a high school core class (English, math, etc.) by successfully completing a dual enrollment class at Gannon with a grade of "C" or higher. Grades appear on the student’s report card along with the grades earned in Erie High School courses.
High school dual enrollment can begin following the completion of sophomore year and ends after the spring semester of senior year.
Juniors and seniors with at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale may be eligible for admission as a High School Dual Enrollment student.
Registration is open to GO College students in mid-November for the spring semester and in mid-March for the fall semester.
To apply for the High School Dual Enrollment program, students must:
- Been a member of GO College for at least two quarters
- Discuss dual enrollment options with Mr. Hicks and/or Ms. Cortina
- Fill out a dual enrollment application at the GO College office in Room 200
- Complete class selection with GO College staff
- Be willing to drive to Gannon or take public transportation(transportation to and from Erie High is the responsibility of the student).
There is no application fee for the High School Dual Enrollment Application, and GO College students will have their course fees waived. GO College also purchases course materials for participating students, and bus transportation is free once the student obtains a Gannon ID.
GO College staff will make the final decision on acceptance. To ensure that a student’s experience at Gannon will enhance his/her high school performance, we ask that students work with their high school teachers, guidance counselor, and GO College staff to avoid any conflict with regular school work while attending classes at Gannon University.
