• Mr States was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania. Growing up, he was a student in the Iroquois School District. While at Iroquois, he was a distance swimmer on the swim team, a trumpet player in the marching band, and an avid golfer on the golf team. Throughout school, his passion was always history. After graduation, Mr. States went on to Edinboro University where he earned a Bachelors degree in History, writing his senior thesis on prisoners of war during the American Revolution. He also completed a Museum Education internship at the Erie Maritime Museum, where he continues to volunteer as a guide. After graduating from Edinboro University, he earned his Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Mercyhurst University. Upon graduation from Mercyhurst, he was hired by Erie Public Schools as a Social Studies teacher at Erie High School where he continues to share his passion for history. At home he is married to his college sweetheart, and had his first child in July 2025. 

    Currently he teaches 10th Grade American History and 9th Grade World History
