The instrumental music classes offer the students the opportunity to rehearse and perform a variety of musical literature that is educationally relevant and historically significant. The goal of instrumental music classes is to develop sight reading skills, improvisation, principles of intonation, balance and dynamics while laying the foundation for life-long music participation by exposing and engaging students in a wide variety of music while giving a global understanding of the evolution of music in an effort to develop literacy in music.

The learning standards for this curriculum are based on the National Standards for Music Education and allow students to have multiple opportunities to learn through a planned and sequential instructional program. The Instrumental Music Program is viewed as an integral part of a student's academic learning and is a valuable component of a well-rounded education.
