General Music
The General Music classes offer students the opportunity to enhance their musical knowledge through listening, creating, movement, singing and performing. The goal of General Music classes is to develop life-long music participants by exposing and engaging students in a wide variety of music while giving a global understanding of the evolution of music in an effort to develop literacy in music.
The learning standards for this curriculum are based on the National Standards for music education and allow students to have multiple opportunities to learn through a planned and sequential instructional program. The General Music program is viewed as an integral part of a student's academic learning and is a valuable component of a well-rounded education.
For students in grades K-5, Erie's Public Schools utilizes QuaverMusic curriculum and instruction resources to teach general music. Click here for more information and to explore a sample lesson.
