Dear Parent/Guardian,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and welcome your child to the Cosmetology Program at the Career and Technical Department at Erie High School.
My name is Ms. Petrick, I will be your child’s instructor for the upcoming school year.
Prior to becoming an Educator at Erie High School, I was a self-employed salon owner/operator for over 2 decades. I began my education in West Palm Beach, Florida in 1988, where my adventure in Beauty School started. I completed 650 hours of training and then returned to PA due to missing family and friends back home. After starting my own family, I enrolled at Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy in Erie to complete my education and fulfill my dream of becoming a licensed hairdresser. I was encouraged by my teacher to enroll in the Cosmetology teachers program, where I completed the 500 state required hours to sit for the State Board Exam. I obtained my Cosmetology Operator's license in 1994 and my Cosmetology Teacher's License in 1995. I became a Toni & Guy Educator in 1995, where I ran the Senior Clinic floor, overseeing all clients that were scheduled for services in the student salon. In the Fall of 1998, I purchased my first hair salon in lovely downtown Edinboro. I managed 3 employees while working "behind the chair", performed payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable, which prepared me to enhance my Teaching Career with Business Skills. In 2002, I moved to a larger home with my two kids and built a hair salon on my property. When I am not teaching my students at Erie High School, I am a hair cutting & color specialist on weekends.
My field experience and commitment to the industry has led me to share my knowledge and expertise with students who share my passion. I am excited to educate and assist your child in gaining the confidence and skills to become successful in the Cosmetology profession and gain employment after high school graduation.
Communication is key to students’ success during their high school years. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or questions that may arise during the upcoming school year to aid in the success of your child’s education.
Sincerely,
Ms. Julie Petrick
