    If beauty and fashion are a few of your favorite things, then our Cosmetology program can prepare you for an enjoyable and rewarding career.

    Our program will give you the styling and salon skills you need to perform a variety of beauty treatments head to toe. You will gain a thorough knowledge of your craft including styling hair as well as giving facials, manicures, and hand and arm massages. You'll also learn all about the safety factors, customer service, and proper work habits you'll need to succeed in the profession or advance in a related career in the fashion industry or spa services.

    The successful completion of your coursework also will give you the 1250 hours of instruction required prior to taking your cosmetology licensing exam

     


    Introduction

    Cosmetology is an instructional program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills related to experiences in a variety of beauty treatments including the care and beautification of the hair, complexion and hands. Instruction includes training in giving shampoos, rinses and scalp treatments; hair styling, setting, cutting, dyeing, tinting and bleaching; permanent waving; facials; manicuring; and hand and arm massaging. Bacteriology, anatomy, hygiene, sanitation, salon management including record keeping
    and customer relations are also emphasized.  Instruction is designed to qualify pupils for the licensing examination.

    In this program, students learn about professionalism, proper business practices, and PA Cosmetology law.  They learn about the workplace environment, Bacteriology, disinfection and sanitation.  Students are exposed to the science of cosmetology, including histology, trichology, chemistry, physiology and cosmetic dermatology. This program offers a variety of hair styling skills, such as shampoo and conditioning, hair shaping, hair styling/fingerwaving, chemical texturizing, permanent waving, haircoloring, and hair straightening.  Additional salon skills include skin care, nail technology, hair removal, scalp treatments and make up.

     

    Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to sit for their Pennsylvania Cosmetology license exam.
