Flexible Instruction
If you have Speech-Language Therapy on Wednesdays, pick the activities that address your goal(s):
1. Speech Sound Development- Find 10 words around your house that have your speech sound. Practice them 5 times each. Then, say them in a sentence.
2. Fluency, Language and Social Skills: Ask someone in your home about their favorite summer memory. Make sure you use eye contact, follow-up questions and relate the answers to your own experiences. Monitor your grammar. If needed, use easy onset, slow speech and a change of tone for more fluent speech.
Welcome to my page! I am a Speech-Language Pathologist who loves to learn and enjoys watching my students learn as well! In speech-language therapy sessions, individual students have their own set of skills and goals that they are working on to improve their communication skills. I like to use literacy as a springboard for developing vocabulary, grammar, fluency, auditory comprehension and sound development. To me, it is so much fun to learn!
I'd like to tell you a little about myself. I am married, have two children and a dog named Prince Scotty. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, cooking, gardening, walking in nature, watching movies and traveling. Even on vacation, you can learn new things! When I was younger, my favorite subjects were Math and Science. I really loved participating in math flashcard races and often was the "Class Champion." However, it was in high school that I really started to love reading. My favorite novel was actually on my summer reading list called "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn," written by Betty Smith. I also enjoy many, many picture books, especially Shel Silverstein's "The Giving Tree." Books can lead to so much learning and many adventures without even leaving your living room!
I wish you all the best of happy learning, not only in school, but in all you do!
