Welcome to Foundations of Computer Science/Financial Literacy and Business Education. This course is designed to provide students with a leveled offering of formatting technique using the Microsoft Office suite. Students will explore methods of formatting documents on Word, spreadsheets on Excel, slide presentations on Power Point, as well as activities on Publisher. We will also discover other online tools such as Animoto and Prezi. Classes will be tiered from year to year providing students a large overview of each software program. In addition to learning how to use the Office suite, students will also be offered a number of financial literacy and introduction to business oriented courses. This too, will offer a variety of courses from grade to grade providing a comprehensive examination of how to handle basic finances as well as understanding fundamental concepts of business. We will be exploring topics such as budgeting, marketing, ethics, accounting, management, saving and investing. Your child has an extremely unique opportunity to be a part of this course, as Wilson is one of a few schools in the area that offer a rich Microsoft Office experience and also currently offers classes in financial literacy and fundamental business applications at the middle school level.
