    Language Arts Honors (Grades 7 and 8)-Mr. Flaherty

     

    Language Arts Honors in Room 113 will focus on four main components: grammar, writing, reading, and vocabulary. Students will analyze reading selections from the HMH Into Literature textbook, an array of novels for both 7th and 8th grade, and an assortment of supplemental reading passages. Literary elements aligned with the PA Standards will be studied through fiction and nonfiction passages. Writing assignments aligned with the HMH curriculum will be completed for each unit. 
     
     
    7th grade novels: Watson's Go To Birmingham-1963, The Outsiders, Ender's Game, The Devil's Arithmetic  
     
     
    8th grade novels: The Giver, Copper Sun, The House on Mango Street, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Book Thief
