    Course Syllabus Instructor: Mr Harvey
    Objective: Based upon mathematics from Geometry and Algebra II, this course teaches a student to measure, analyze, and predict the physical world around us. By accomplishing practice problems and in-class activities, students will learn analytic ability, problem solving skills, group collaboration, and independent study. Just like college, self-directed study is a necessity. If questions arise, students must be mature enough to seek out an understanding of the material. (Remember, successful completion of this course demonstrates academic performance at the college level.) With diligent and productive work, students will be prepared for the College Board Physics1 exam. See www.collegeboard.com
    Students should expect to spend at least 1hour studying outside of class for every period in class. Studying means: reading textbook and doing practice problems, alone or with others.
    If you can’t commit at least this much outside time to the course, don’t enroll.
    Be aware: Many universities do NOT accept the College Board AP exams for college credit.
    Check with your prospective college or university.

    Free Response Exams: [33 1/3 %] Approximately 3 per term. One class period long. 5 or 6 problems. Student must read and analyze a Physics-related problem. Then, the student must produce a solution with clear and thoroughly written mathematical documentation. Calculators are allowed but can not be shared. Equations will be provided, but no other books, notes, or resources will be allowed.
    Multiple Choice quizzes and exams: [33 1/3 %] Approximately 1 exam per term (50 questions). and 1 quiz per week (10 questions). Student will read a Physics related question and select the most correct answer from 5 possible responses. No calculators, books, notes, equation sheets or other resources may be used.
    In-Class Activities [33 1/3 %] Approximately every week. Students will perform activities involving: experiment design, data collection, and result analysis.
    EXTRA HELP: From 2:48pm to 3:30pm on Wednesday.
    Students can make-up missed pork and have questioned answered.
    TEST RETAKES
    To retake a test, a student must attend extra help and then complete all tasks on their individual study prescription within 2 weeks of the original test.
    MISSING CLASS
    Making-up work missed due to an absence from class is the student’s responsibility. Labs must be made-up within one week, or 0 will be recorded. Students who know ahead of time that they will be absent from their class are encouraged to: attend other physics class sections, turn in assignments early, and take quizzes/tests early.
